Lurks in the Dark

The oldest job in music is telling a room that something is wrong before anyone can see it. Behind this door live our scores for unease — the wrongness before the reveal, silence used as an instrument, the dark between trees given a voice.

We write dread for night walks and haunted worlds where the audience chooses to be frightened, which is a form of trust. The craft is to lure, never to assault: these excerpts prowl at the edge of hearing, and the fear they make is the kind people queue for.
